I need to add tie down points to my Tacoma bed. I do have a drop in bed liner and that causes me some concern.

By drilling holes through the liner and into the sheet metal am I asking for trouble?

I have read stories here about water getting under the liner and causing rust!

    Your thoughts:

Thanks for the links! Army surplus seems to be AWOL. I just went to the garage to inspect the bed on my 2002 Xtracab. I can find nothing that holds the liner down other than the grace of God and gravity. I think I answered my original question. The four corner tie downs have large rectangular cutouts in the liner. I am sure water is already under the liner.
I am going the pull the liner out and check for rust.

    Thanks

I wanna do the same to my '99. I don't have a bedliner but the stock tie downs in the upper corner aren't very good for tying things down if they are below those tie downs. It does seem like a lot of water could get underneath one of those plastic bedliners regardless and cause rust but im not sure...
