Cannot believe I was putting up with this for 11 years... $17, some loctite and about half an hour and the whole thump after braking is gone. No matter how hard I stop there is no thump when letting go of the brake.

That is all, just wanted to say thanks to the forum... what a great community here!

How did you fix it? Just loctite and torqued it down more?

I bought some U Clamps from AutoZone and added them to the leaf springs forward of the axle a little bit... The loctite was just to make sure the new U Clamp bolts don't come off from rattling.

There are a few DIY around the forum I used to get this done.

Nice, this is on my to do list. Tired of 'the thump'. Had this spacer lift since I bought the truck 3 years ago and just waiting on funds to eventually upgrade to a proper lift and new leafs. Think I'll do this till that happens. Seems easy enough.

Thanks guys! I have been trying to diagnose that strange thump during breaking. It was at the top of my list for 2015 for the truck! I have been shooting videos under the truck looking at the motor mounts trans mount ect. I was speculating that it could be a broken spring as well. The best part is the truck came with four helper springs on it. I took them off because it made the truck ride like a tank! I'm used to that sweet riding S10! I had to add helpers to the S10 because of the shell, and the boat. It's suspension was still a bit too soft for my needs. The Pre-Runner is at the other end of the scale. Now I can look for a fix for the rear side windows on the ex-tendo-cab.

    K
