What is hubcentric?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what hubcentric means. they have it where you can choose yes or no when ordering new wheels, what does it mean?

Think of hub centric like a barbell and weights. The barbell is the hub and the weights have a hole that slide onto the barbell. The hole in the weight plate is machined to slide on and support itself using the barbell. So the single large center hole on the rim is what fits on the hub protrusion.

Lug centric is kinda the same but instead of one big "barbell" supporting the weight, it uses the lugs (5 or 6 little barbells) (threaded part) to support the 5 or 6 holes in the wheel. The 5 or 6 holes that slide over the lugs are what supports.

i see... i guess i have always dealt with lug centric vehicles cause i couldn't think of any differences i have ever seen.

most of the wheels i found are not hubcentric for our lug pattern

 

not sure if it was clear, but thats a good thing. you dont want to order hubcentrics, they are for GMs...they have a smaller wheel bore in the center and most likely wont even slide onto your truck all the way.... hubcentric = no

that being said 80% of wheels come with a hubcentric ring, which is a piece of plastic you can optionally use. This is ok, you just wont use them when you put your new wheels on.
