I am trying to come up with some ideas to make the back seat of my first gen access cab more comfortable. I have seen some of you guys post really creative ideas and links so I'm hoping I will be able to do a much better job with your input.

The end goal is to modify the rear space of the access cab so that a single person would enjoy a long ride back there. I am comfortable with heavy modifications. I just need some ideas!

    Thanks in advance!

Some of my ideas so far include installing a reclined seat similar to those you would find in the reclined section of a hot tub. I could then add a layer of memory foam for comfort. I might also need to relocate some of the seatbelt hardware for safety.

I think installing the hot tub is a good idea. I'd ride back there all day

After doing some thinking, I would want to use a platform to flatten out the rear compartment. Then I would want to put three different padded boards in that go like this \/\
to form the back rest, thigh rest and calf rest. All would be hinged and I would put the hinge that joins the back and thing rests as well as the end of the calf rest on rails so that the whole thing wold be adjustable.

treat it like a restaurant booth and add a padded bench seat with back cushion all the way across with padded side cushions.

this way you can lay or lean in either direction you want and if you keep a pillow in there its like a bed so they can even lay down and sleep if they want. you can never face forward so the booth style bench seat is the most practical and universal comfort for passengers, kids, dogs, or just general things and stuff

What about a bench seat back there with a fold down arm rest in the center? Usually third row seats are thin. You may be able to use one from another SUV or van.
