So my truck had been making a strange noise recently. Sounds kinda like a squeal. It happens when I'm pushing the gas pedal lightly. And only between 40-50 mph. Belt? Exhaust leak? Its kinda annoying

What happens if you're sitting in Park and rev the engine?

Nothing. Only happens when driving. So hard to tell what it could be. Maybe a pulley?

Me too, I think. I hear the squeal/chirp noise when I hit the gas lightly when there's little or no load on the engine. It only lasts a split second and goes away when the acceleration puts load on.

Also happens when letting off the gas in the brief time before engine braking load.

I can get it squealing good going downhill and feathering the pedal just between acceleration and deceleration.

No noise in Park, so I was thinking something along the drive shaft?

Mine lasts more than a slit second. As I slowly accelerate or decelerate it can last for ~30s or so. Doesn't seem to have an effect or performace at this time.

How cold is it where you're at? Mine does this in ~25 degree and below weather, based on other posts on similar issue I believe the drive shaft needs to be lubed. Haven't tried it yet to find out for sure.

I also have this on my '03 when it's cold out. Some years it's been there all winter and other years it comes and goes. I think that it's the support bearing for the driveshaft.

Mine started doing this after I had the Timing belt / Water pump / idler pulley all replaced, but it is intermittent. I took each belt off one at a time and started the truck up each time and tried different combinations of belts and from what I can tell, its the idler pulley, which makes sense because I had it replaced and the stealership was selling cheapo parts as "OEM toyota parts".
