I've done a mod or two
Hmm, I'd wager that instead of being rocks, your stock shocks are dead. When shocks die they stop dampening and you begin to feel the road more and more. A stock Tacoma rides extremely soft for a truck, that is why all of us beef up our suspension (they are kinda weak and squishy). Perhaps it is time for some new stock replacement shocks.

softest shocks are dead ones.. otherwise go with the cheapest monroe's you can find.. your tacoma is never going to have a plush ride that you might feel in some trucks, the suspension simply wasnt designed for that..

if you want a smooth ride and dont care for handling you may need to replace your worn out suspension completely and lower your tire pressure to 30psi or less...

Certainly, you could do SOMETHING with different tires or seats?

With the rough ride, I was thinking about naming my new truck "Stiffy."

go with stock replacement Monroe shocks, they are OEM replacements and give you the softest ride there is. anything else will give a "stiffer" ride.

are you the original owner? because as others have mentioned, if your ride is rock hard then your shocks are likely blown and bottomed out or someone installed stiffer aftermarket shocks and struts and that's why it rides like a rock.

Heh, I just bought & installed the KYB gas-a-just front struts & rear shocks. The fronts are ridiculously soft.

Now the front left & right sides are equally soft, versus one side being softer than the other. I suppose this gives some semblance of control now...however it adds to the already econobox feel of the truck.

Anyway, likely I'll be ordering the Bilstein 4600/5100 struts. The gas-a-justs will go on the market.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I am in the same boat as you, need to replace mine as well and want them to be soft riding for my daily driver.
