^^^^ What he said! There, now you have 2 no's and no yes's.
Of course anything could be made to fit. But they're not designed for a 1st gen, that's why they fit a 2nd gen.

ok, well its better to ask then buy them and find out it cant be made to work. I just like the look of second gen flaps much better.

I saw that a few people had used first gen mud flaps on second gens after going with bigger tires so I was just wondering if it could have worked the other way around

I wasn't expecting it to line up with the original holes and screw right in, but if it fit the fender shape and all I needed was to drill new holes for the screws well that's what I call "yes it will fit" needing only "minor" fitting

Keaker, give it a try, you have nothing to lose. If you have access to a 2nd why not trace the fender outline on a piece of cardboard and see how closely it matches up to your fender.

If you have no reservations about how the mudflap fits and you are willing to modify it to fit, then why not go for it. They're certainly cheaper than 1st gen mudflaps.

Like you, I have difficulty coming to the point of having to pay the high price that these things demand.

I've thought of trying to find a mudflap off of a big rig truck and fabricating my own. One of those mudflaps off of a trailer could probably be big enough to make 2 mudflaps for our purposes. I priced a new one at a truck stop and they were only about $20 for the cheapest one.

You're a resourceful guy, you'll make it work. Good luck.:)

well I was always taught before you go making assumptions about anything, just ask, the worse that can happen is no one knows and you still don't know for sure.

I mainly don't like the flat look of our 1st gen flaps and that's why I don't just go get generic flaps at the auto store. the second gens flaps are stiff more like fender flares and they have a much better look in my opinion and the curved shape gives it more strength.

I saw a full set of 2nd gen plain flaps that were priced cheap in my view (seen here) so im willing to give it a shot, hoping the fenders have roughly the same shape even if not exactly the same. I just wanted to check to see if anyone would say "no way, the fenders are shaped too differently" or anything like that. besides the wasted money I would hate to ruin a set someone else might be able to use.

I just hate throwing money away (very very tight budget and all being on fixed income) and im truly amazed that no one else has tried this yet since newer parts are usually cheaper and easier to come by then old ones. add to that most big tire 2nd gens have to pull them off for clearance so in my mind I thought there would be plenty of these leftovers around for people to be experimenting with.

im going to get them and give it a try, if they end up in the trash I will be very sad, but as you say, not much to lose but time and a little money.

when I get them I will compare things more accurately and it its not even close i'll just resell them rather then ruin them.

if I proceed with using them I will try to document what I do but im making any promises on a mod thread full of pictures

I felt this was a chance I couldn't pass up but only if there was a good chance they could be made to fit.

it pays to look at the 2nd gen for sale section sometimes, you never know what can be useful like step bars, rims and tires, mud flaps, or whatever
