Hey guys, this is my first post of what will probably be many on this forum. Recently I picked up a 97 Tacoma 2rz with a blown head gasket. I've had the head Professionally checked, Cleaned, and Machined and it's looking good. upon putting it together I ran into one snag though.

I bought this fel-pro gasket kit:

    http://www.amazon.com/Fel-Pro-HS946...toyota:tacoma&keywords=felpro+head+gasket+set

And it came with just about every gasket that I needed to do this Job; however, on the back end of the head there's a coolant inlet with a triangle shaped port that I don't have the gasket for. you can see the gasket that I need in the bottom left of this set.

    http://www.amazon.com/Beck-Arnley-0...ta:tacoma&keywords=beck+and+arnley+gasket+set

What would this gasket be called? can anyone find me a part number? I've been looking forever.

    Thanks in Advance!!

so THATS where the water hose goes? lol I couldn't see back there but new it went to some connection so im glad to see what it looks like.

it very closely resembles the one on my outboard motor

glad you got it all sorted out

do you know if it was a mistake and they forget to put it in the kit, or was it not included because it was deemed and "exterior" engine part therefore not included in the "interior" engine gaskets kit?

I have no idea, even the cheaper sets that I've seen include it. I've been using felpro sets for years and never ran into any problems so I didn't necessarily look around before I bought it. Its one of those things that you don't notice until you don't have it.

Here is what the rear plate looks like. There is a small coolant line that splits off of the big one leading to the IAC. You can't see it from this angle.

The gasket kit from Toyota (04112-75091) includes this rear plate gasket. None of the kits seem to include the plastic spacers for the fuel injectors. The Toyota kit included the o-rings for the spacers, but the spacers always break when taking them out, so I don't know why they don't just include them also. The Toyota kit didn't include an o-ring for the distributor, but did include the oil fill cap gasket and PCV valve grommet. Go figure.

Yes, the temperature sensor for the computer. The temperature sensor for the instrument cluster gauge is on the water outlet.

Just to keep you guys posted, I finished putting it together today. fired up and going strong. my idle is a bit high and I have a check engine light (probably from a sensor not plugged all the way in somewhere) but I'll fine tune it and plug it in to the old OBD II scanner tomorrow to figure it out.
