What shocks do I get? Do I really need beilstein 5100 shocks?

I have a 2002 Tacoma SR5 PreRunner DoubleCab 2WD 4 Cylinder. The ride is terrible and the shocks have to be bad. Every little thing I hit (small pot holes, etc...) it sounds and feels as if I hit a brick wall.

I drive a 2WD in Minnesota so I put about 240 lbs of sandbags in the back in winter to help with traction. I probably want some good shocks to support that extra weight all winter.

Someone else advised me to get Beilstein 5100 shocks. Is that overkill for my 2WD PreRunner?

In not, why?

If yes, do you have any other suggestions?

It's all about cost , what you want them for, and what you use the truck for.

You don't need 5100's....

You can get any shock/strut you want as long as they're the proper size/length to fit the truck.

Are you looking for a soft ride? Stiff ride? Do you offroad? Are you on a budget? Are you looking for inexpensive shocks/struts?

Do some searching... there are GOOD inexpensive shocks out there.
I've had Ranchos (would never buy them again). I've also had OME's (they're nice but a bit pricey). I run Doetsch Tec's on my jeep and they've been the most impressive shock (Prerunner version) for the cost - inexpensive.

much appreciated. i would like a soft ride and I'm not really on a budget but would still like a reasobably priced set. whatever would be considered a good bang for the buck. doesn't necessarrily mean I would go with the least expensive. I just don't want overkill but something that would support the sandbags in winter without the sag that the OEMs provide.

okay okay, here is my admission!!! LOL!!! I'm not really a off-roader and never would use my truck in that fashion. I may do a camping trip at a local campsite. LOL! I like it simply because of the way it looks.

Am I considered a "poser?" LOL! Whatever!!!!

I think the 5100's would be a good shock for ya. MUCH better dampening than OEM, and a lifetime warrenty.

Yup, got mine from DSM for under 300, but i think they had to raise the price just a tad. great shocks though, you'll love them.
