If someone could chime in on this it would be great. I'm in need of a brake change and heard akebono brakes were the way to go although I don't want to order the wrong ones. I have a 2001 tacoma dbl cab prerunner 6 lug 2wd if anyone has ordered some for theres I want to compare the part number with what there site is saying. Also I need to change need to change the frt rotors. What brand would you guys recommend that would be a good combo with theses brakes? Thanks

Akebono has worked pretty good for me in the past on other vehicles. They are low dust. I just found them to not give the same level of grip or stopping power as semi-metallic. Like I said, great for low dust though. I just replaced the pads on my '01 DC 4x4 with Bendix MKD799FM from RockAuto, they work great and haven't noticed an abnormal amount of dust yet, but I haven't driven it a ton either. I think they were right at $25 for the set. I did that and adjusted the rear brakes and the truck stops like a champ now.

Akebono is OEM I believe for the 4Runners. They are great. I just added some and used the Napa rotors on another vehicle.

I used Akebono pads with Brembo coated rotors. A good fluid flush helped a ton as well. Stips on a dime.
