water fuc#ed up my engine

Just let it dry out. It's be fine. From now on, when you are in water, DON'T STOP.....Keep driving and you push the water ahead of you which creates an air pocket in the engine bay. I used to drive in 3 feet of water in Houston all the time...IN A HONDA CIVIC!!

 

I'm guessing they do, but I've never bought it there before. You could also try a parts store like napa or schucks

my taco acted funny when the 02 sensor was filthy, maybe the water got in some how

 

sure they do, get some stuff called "heet", its in a yellow bottle! cost's like $1.47, i think, it did, may have went up though!

 

i will have to go through it thoruoghly tomorrow

 

does it shutter, or really want to die?

my old wrangler used to shutter when I let the clutch out after a puddle, since there was water in the clutch.

 

Do you have a cone filter open in the engine bay?...is it soaked?...maybe water got into the intake...MAF...just throwing thoughts out there.

Check engine light on? Did you get any water into your airbox? If, water made it into your airbox and got any debris or trash onto your mair flow sensor you could be running lean hence the stumble and the poor idle while cruising. If you have a check engine light on let me know. also if the check engine light is on, run by autozone or what have ya and get the codes and either have them print it out or write it down and let me know what those codes are.

 

Most fuel dryers are 90-95% isopryl alchohol. Grab a bottle off of the shelf at your local auto parts store and read what the contents are, grab more than one brand. You can achieve the same result by buying a .99 bottle of alchohol. Cheap fix.

 

If problem lasts more than a couple of days (after it's dried out), my guess is the problem is ignition coils.

You probably posted as I was typing, it happens.

 

I did exactly what you did 12 years ago in my 96 taco. I went through a huge puddle up to the hood and submerged the whole damned engine in water. It did run rough for probably 1-2 days then it was fine except for the engine light came on. The water wound up shorting out the rear O2 sensor. Replaced that and it was fine.

Drive it for a few days and if the problem doesn't go away, have it checked out with someone who has a scan tool. If you had done something serious, you would have known by now.

 

It's been over a week now...what's the verdict on this mudjunk! I need to close out this tread......engine running or not?!?!?!??!
