I keep hearing great things about this deck plate mod but haven't been able to find any step by step site with photos to help me along. Can anyone help?

what ive seen and heard is you buy a deck plate from a boat store and cut your airbox the same diameter as the plate that you bought

I wonder if you can put screen type material over it.. i am not a fan of things being able to get in there.. debris, mice.. ect.

I feel the same way about that. What if i have to do some driving on a dirt road and the plate isnt in place. I dont live in a city. Isnt that kinda risky?

    getting there....
i never put my plate back in, even when offroading, and nothing but a lil mud got in the front of the box when i hit some mud holes. a good filter will keep the dust from going into the engine.

no. but it was the easiest to do i believe with the 3.4L air box. I had to do a little extra to fit a 4" deckplate into my 2.7L box.

I have never seen either 2nd gen air box up close, but if you have an open face thats bigger than 3"x3", then you should be good to go
