I've been searching in vain for someone that has mounted a set of driving lights behind a Grillcraft. Has anyone made such a mod on a 1st gen and if so are pics available to the mounting location?

My Grillcraft is on the way and the driving lights behind the grill mod is making me drool!

I've seen custom grills with lights behind them. I can't see why not. I know for a fact hella lights will fit.

Okay. Well, I've gone ahead and fashioned a home-made light bar behind my Grillcraft. I may have to go back and raise the lights about 1/4", but other than that I'm pretty happy with it. Hopefully I haven't missed anything obvious, and I'll get around to wiring the Hella 500FF's later on in the week.

    Any observations or comments?

looks good, might want to spread em out a lil bit though.

i do know a lot of people that run lights behind their mesh grill mount them to the top part of the grill--so the lights are upside down.

at least thats what i remember.

Yeah, I was thinking of trying to spread them out also. It's pretty limited on space in there, though, so they might have to stay put. I had considered using the grill itself to mount them, but thought I'd give this a try first and see. Maybe after I get them wired in I'll have a better feel for the light "spray".

Yeah, I saw that write-up as well. Pretty much what I had in mind only I was using a Grillcraft from the outset. I also came across this guy's thread on customtacos which is the way I ended up going.

Just pull the hood release lever in the cab and then slide your finger between the hood and the top of the grill to move the hood lever. Very easy.
