The 1990 truck is very back-to-the-future-esque. Great trucks.

Thanks guys I loved both trucks but needed more room with a growing family. I had the 83 when it was just me and the wife. Bought the 90 and had it for a while but need more space inside so I sold it and bought a superduty crewcab but sold it and now into a doublecab taco.:D The 83 was the bomb nothing stopped it. In 94 here in Louisville Ky a snow storm just about shut everything down and the city had the national gaurd taking doctors to work and taking them home. They were driving the Hummer H1 and I cant tell you how many got hung up on snow banks that I got going again with the 83. My wife was 9months pregnant and expecting anyday, she made atleast 200 sandwiches, hot coffee and rode with me to give to the truckers that were stuck in their trucks on the hwy that same day. Everytime I see the pics of that truck the snow is the first thing that pops in my mind. Well dont cuss me but here my superduty I sold. I've already started ordering all kinds of goodies for the taco so I'll have pics of it's transformation. Wish I could find the same wheels for the taco that the superduty had.

It's interesting seeing them side by side, it shows how big toyota's "compact" pickup has gotten.

wow it looks like its 2/3 scale or something. Do you know about what the old one weighed in at. I wonder how much less than the 3700 poundish your new one is.

Do you think the roll bar, if you still have it, will fit the new one or is it too small?

The old one weighed about 2600, roll bar would be too narrow for these, way too narrow. Was almost too narrow for the old one. Think it came out of old nissan truck the ones that had that flat piece that connected the bars together right over & parallel to the bed on each side & said nissan on it. I scored it minus those things cheap from a 4x4 junkyard back in the last century at some point. lol...........

2600!! wow that's nothing. My dad's coupe weighs more than that. Yeah I was thinking it would be too narrow. I think a rollbar would be sweet in an access cab though.

Funny sometime in the last century. That's like saying see you next year on dec 31st.

But to make a true comparison you would need to put the older truck next to a new regular tacoma not a Prerunner
