if you had $200 what battery would you get?

if you're willing to cough up the extra for the odyssey, go ahead and pick odyssey

    happy voting! :)

I've been hearing a lot of bad things about Optima. The earlier ones were good, but the newer ones seem to go into the crapper very soon. If you're gonna spend $200 for a battery then get the Ody. IMO, it's overkill if you don't really need it. I've had Autozone's Duralast batteries in all my cars and they've never let me down.

yeah been hearing bad news about optima too recently, plus having to deal with searching for a adapter or hold-down is a PITA

do the odysseys fit well without adaptation?

I have a yellow top... it works... and it's overkill for me... but it sure is darn pretty sitting there under the hood with that billet battery tray...

hmmm interesting..this is the first ive heard of bad things about optima...i'm curious. I may go with a hydraulic Warn winch though so i may not even upgrade the battery then.

Here are more pics... the tray holds the battery at the bottom, so you don't need the bracket over the battery.

I've had two Optima Red Tops fail on me, so there's no way I'd recommend them.

I don't know about Yellow Tops - people seem to have better experiences with them than the Red Tops.

The Diehard Platinum is basically a rebranded Odyssey at a lower price for the equivalent spec's. That's what I'm running now.

    Yellow Top!!

My Jeep's had a yellow top in it for years. And yes...it handles a winch perfectly. A few years back, I left my lights one one time at work and the battery did go dead. Jumped started it, took it home and hooked it up to a charger and it's rejuvenated and still works great. Can't beat that!!

With the yellow top & winch usage, we have a hand throttle setup where we can bump the RPM's up while using the winch. That helps the battery stay charged while winching. Or, just give it some gas while winching....

i've had optimas for 7 years, there good BUT, NEVER, let them get low or dead because they will never come back and the warrentes are garbage because nobody honors them. i actually got one from autozone and went to return it because it died a week later and they said they had no record of me buying it even tho i used my card. also, never let it sit unless you disconnect it and check the voltage every week or so because it will die. i dont think ill ever get one again because me, and everyone i know has had such bad luck with them. its only been because i have a friend that i get them from or i worked at places that sold them that i kept using them for as long as i did, but never again. i'll get motorcraft or diehard from now on. maybe i'll look in to that odyssey

I don't know about the red tops, but our Yellow top has been in our jeep and it sits for weeks and sometimes an entire month (or more in the winter) without being started or cranked over. When we do drive it...it starts up everytime without any hesitation.

The thing has gone dead on us (I left the lights on while I was at work). We jump started it and when I got home, we hooked it up to a charger and it hasn't missed a beat since.

I have dual optima red tops in my truck and it's sat for literally months at a time without running with no issues. Starts up every time for me.
