190,000 miles. Turbo and never opened the valve cover. BUT Alternator gave up, coolant temp sensor gone bad, ball joints upper and lower, tie rod ends, fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, shocks of course, rack and pinion leaked and replaced the fluid with anti leak fluid when it ran dry so now it stopped leaking, brake rotors, thats all i can think of right now.

311,000+

97 xtra cab 2.4L 5-speed 2wd

two right door windows and 1 left door window as when going around off-camber corners, the windows can just shatter.

Exhaust heat shield disintegrated at 38,000 but was told this was not under warranty.

Exhaust manifold broke in half at 41,000. Also not under the 100,000 extended warranty as it was not an internally lubricated component.

A/C condenser tube cracked at 98,000. Not covered under warranty.

Head rebuild at 147,000 as the exhaust valves had all recessed into the head to the point that I had no compression in 2 cylinders.

5 windshields as they would get so pitted and sandblasted that they were totally unsafe.

2 headlight assemblies as the plastic yellowed all the way through and could not be polished out.

1 clutch and a replacement trans at 174,000 as the 1-2 synchro was shot and it was cheaper to put in a replacement trans from a lo milage wreck than to rebuild the trans.

Wheels when I ran over a chunk of something that punctured right through the rim at 80+mph. That will get your attention!! 8-)

2 catalytic converters and 2 sets of O2 sensors. Complete exhaust system.

4 shocks replaced with Rancho shocks 8 years ago.

Leaf springs need replacing soon.

Tie-rod ends and ball joints should be replaced soon as a maintenance item.

4 sets of rotors. I set of rear drums. Several sets of brake pads and shoes.

The truck is in for a complete motor rebuild as the head has cracked from the exhaust valve seats to the spark plug hole on 3 of 4 cylinders. At this time we are replacing all water and vacuum hoses, water pump, etc.

I purchased a replacement head from www.japanengine.com. The Toyota parts guys looked over the new head and gave it their blessings. At $450.00, it is hard to say no to. Toyota's price was $1100.

For the most part, I have bee very happy with my truck. I was disappointed in Toyota's warranty not covering any of the items that failed that I felt should have been covered. After they denied the exhaust manifold, I demanded a refund of the money I had spent on the extended warranty. It took over a year of arguing before they agreed to refund that extra $1900 that I had paid for coverage. Seems that the words "Bumper to Bumper" were more than a little misleading. And the judge thought so too.

Things I have a problem with from Toyota.

Their stock replacement exhaust manifold cost more than $100 more than the 50 state legal header from Downey. The header actuall dropped the torque curve down about 500 RPM which made the truck capable of staying in 5th on hills. It also raised my fuel economy from about 26 to about 28 mpg combined driving.

They want $8 PER LUG NUT for factory replacement lug nuts. Are they insane?

The will not sell you just a bolt in a lot of cases. I need a seatbelt anchor bolt for the top of the seatbelt. They want you to buy the whole seatbelt assembly to buy a $5 bolt. Their price? Over $200.

Why is the Tacoma not the best fuel economy truck being sold now? They had the technology 12 years ago, so why do today's trucks get so much worse fuel economy? The Ford Ranger gets significantly better fuel economy either city or highway. What happened to Toyota?

73,000 all that I've done is a water pump right after I got it. I don't think anything else has had to be replaced on it.

I got all you beat...2000 with 317K+ and spreadsheet with all that I have ever done, I am at the point where it is nitpicking little things, but that is the original engine, trans, and all major stuff. tires, oil, and general upkeep. I am wanting to get a double cab, so eventually selling it...will start with posting on here!

57k and not a single problem..oil changes and air filters... bought new tires after 37k... had the breaks checks about 10k ago and they have about 50% left so I think the only problem I have had was a rear tail light!
