Hit a 5 month old thread and then asked a question like that? Only a noob.

BTW, welcome to the Forum.

grey wire

what i meant was when you ground the wire, it locks the diff, correct?
Why not put a switch between the wire and ground so it's not locked (grounded) all the time?

it isnt locked all the time with the grey wire mod.......it lets you lock the diff in 2 hi and 4 hi as well as 2 lo. no switch needed.

^^ Faster than I

I realize what you meant. The Grey wire mod doesn't make the locker engage, it simple makes it so you don't have to be in 4-LO to engage it.

oic now, it's kinda an "on demand" locker......passive......this just gives permissive to lock full-time "When needed"- I'm mucho familiar with four wheel drive systems, just missed a note here or there on this one.......... sorry guys, thanx for the patience.

Grey Wire Mod operability ????'s

So how does the locker work & is it engaged full time? Can you deactivate it? Would a simple contact closure switch enable you to be able to turn on & off at the flip of a switch?
Thanks

Does your truck have the TRD Elocker>?
If so you already have a switch. all this MOD does is: Allows you to use the Locker in 2wd, 4wd, and 4Low. If the truck is stock and no MOD is done you can only use the Locker in 4low.

No switch

Thanks for that ?; I was catching the switch in some other threads & wasn't clear on the lockers activation. To be clear, the only switches I have to enable anything is O/D & ECT. Am I overseeing anything?
Thanks,
Bailey

Can someone explain when and why I'd need to use my e-locker? I'm new to 4wd and haven't had my truck off road much so have never needed to investigate the consequences of pushing the button, although I have just learned that it flashes because I'm going faster than 5mph...
Tell me what this e-locker magic is you all speak of...

Locker

Hey, the locker makes the diff act like you have one solid axle with equal ammounts of torque to each side. Very nice if you have gotten into a spot where you have one of your rear wheels totally up in the air. Is also nice when you get stuck. The truck behaves a little differently when it is engaged, it will want to push straight ahead of the rear wheels so be aware!
