hesitating

i went muddin with one of my friends a few days ago, and a lil more than halfway through it, my check engine light came on, and after we got done, id try and punch it, and its like it would go to a certain RPM then hesitate really bad then go again. i looked under the hood and saw that my CAI was filthy but my friend has one on his tacoma too but his ran fine. i pulled the MAF sensor off and it had some dirt particles in it, i sprayed it with some electrical cleaner and now it doesnt hesitate but it seems like ive lost a lil bit of throttle response, any suggestions?

Check your throttle position sensor. Remove it and clean both it and the plugs with the same cleaner. It might help.

Follow the air intake to the throttle body. The TPS should be right there on top about an inch over from the intake hose. Two phillips head screws hold the sensor in. Unplug the wire harness attached to it and take the screws off, thein the sensor should come right off. Spray down the wire harness plug and the sensor with the electric parts cleaner. let it dry and put it back together. It might help, it might not, but can't hurt to try.

No problem. Let me know if it helps. I suggested this because I had a similar problem and this fixed it.
