How to fix a seat belt that wont retract?

    well the title says it all i saw the post of 4x4wire on it but the pictures are so zoomed in i cant really tell what part of seatbelt the are working with.
    Did a search didnt find anything.

    i had to do this a few weeks ago. once you remove the retractor mechanism (about the size/weight of a brick) you'll notice there are plastic caps on both sides. one side contains gears, one side contains a spring. i drilled a small hole in the spring side and sprayed some motorcycle chain lube in. i then sealed the hole w/ some gorilla glue. (make sure you just cover the hole, don't get it inside. prob. better to use a silicon sealant of some sort)

    i dont know how true this is, but i once heard by law the dealership has to fix damaged seatbelts for free. or free to us and the goverment pays for it or something.

    anyone else ever hear this?

    well it not damaged its just when you let go of it it doesnt want to retract ALL the way with out a little help from me.

    I cant understand first i cant get the dash off now i cant figure out how to get the door panel off to get to the seat belt thing...but i cant change my oild in 10 minutes TOPS i guess i just dont mix well with plastic.

    uhh mine sucks too. my understanding was that most old toyotas just had shitty seatbelt retractors.

    i just pull it in when i get out. its kinda become part of the routine.
