    Socal ,

If your gas gauge has a small fuel pump or dot in the top right corner.maybe,if when you turn the key on and they light orange, then yes...BUT if not near empty, this might not apply...

My '99 had the dot,my '02 has the fuel pump and my '85-hell that did not even have power steering;)...

Did you try googling the '96 options/standard specs???

Some have it, some don't. And some are famous for not working. I think if it's an SR5, it has the orange gas pump. If not, it has the dot. And I don't think it's part of the PCM's bulb check, so it probably won't come on during KOEO (key on, engine off).

The gas gauge has a small square on the bottom right corner i have not had gas that low yet so i have not seen it on and i have read the owners manual and some trucks have that low fuel light so i guess i'll have to see what happens my gas gauge seems to move alot and not sure how accurate it is so i hope i have a working low fuel light 96 v6 4x4 sr5.

    Yes it does.....
Atleast, mine did (96 3.4L manual). It came on pretty late and when the needle was almost ontop the 'E'. I had that needle almost 1/8" below the E and didn't run out of gas.

The dealer told me if you have gauge cluster with volt meter than i would have a gas light. Any body know if i change out the gauge cluster for one that has volt meter and gas light if it would work?

uhh i dont have a gas light in my 96 base model. I do have, however, an extra 3-4 gallons after the needle hits the E line. Ive brought the needle 3/4ths past the letter "E". i love gambling with the ghas gauge!

Well I think I'm gonna test the gas light today... I took a flashlight and shined it in my dash. Looks like there is a little fuel pump and something that looks like the front window insignia. I'm not really sure what to think about it...

I pussed out... Twice. LOL. That needle dips way to low for my liking. The light never came on and it was way below the E line. Anyone got input?
