Acceleration Vibration 2003 Tacoma Reg Cab Auto 4 cyl.

Any help much appreciated...

I feel a very noticeable vibration momentarily when I accelerate at any speed and mostly at the lower speeds. No vibe unless I'm accelerating. 56k miles on my truck, I am second owner. No other problems to mention...this vibration has me really concerned. Please, advice or tips?

where do you feel the vibration at...the steering wheel or in the seat? have you checked the u-joints?

 

I feel it mainly through the floor, on the accel pedal, and in steering. Feels like it's in the trans right underneath me when driving. The vibe only happens when I give it gas to accel. Seems like its at the top end of gears almost. If I accel very gradually I don't feel it as much.

thx. I just drove the tuck and there is little vibe in steering if any. Feel it mainly in seat and pedal/floor. do you think maybe the u-joints are causing this?

not only check your u-joints, you may want to check to see if your driveshaft has gotten out-of-balance.

 

could this vibe be from the clutch? I noticed today that it starts the shudder when it shifts from gear to gear. ?

If it's making a kind of ruh - ruh - ruh sound and you can feel it in the floor on the drivers side it's most likely the front diff bearing. Assuming yours is 4WD that's where i'd look. Mines been doing it for a couple of years and the super brains at the dealers tell me it's normal.
