If thats gonna be your down payment, you should be good. You can get a 2005 for 16,000 or so?? If thats all you can spend, you will have to get something a little older. Mid 90's to 2000 if youre lucky. But a used tacoma, if taken care of, should last a while. Good luck and enjoy your new truck.

I just bought a 2000 Taco for 10000 here in Canada. Truck has 188000 kilos. Sounds like a lot for a 2000 with that many k's but shop around and you will see that its is what they go for. Graet trucks though.... this is my seventh tacoma that I have owned between 97's and 2000's and you cant kill them. good luck!

If your looking to buy what your looking for for only $4,500. I don't think you'll find one. If so, it may have issues and very high miles, and most likely 95 to maybe a 98. Plus you'll need extra funds for NJ State sales tax, reg, and title transfer. IF you find one, post the add here and I'm sure someone will guide you from there as far as what to look for. I looked for 3 months for my truck and had to travel to Maryland to buy it. I also spent a LOT more that what your looking to spend. If you do find one you like, please do yourself a huge favor, and CARFAX it. Good luck and keep us posted. Also, welcome to the forum neighbor, I'm also in NJ....:D

Hi & welcome to TW , I'm assuming you have $4500.00 to invest, you will be a bit limited but don't get discouraged, depending on the oldest year model you'll consider you can find some really clean not-too-trashed trucks, Here in San Diego I went to Craig's list & found a couple comparisons for you,The older Toy is an 85' 4x 4cyl. for $2200.00 the other is a 90' ex cab 4x for $6900.00 check your area & good luck.....
