So I'm wanting some black rims for my 2003 Tacoma. I currently have Amp Sixer's as I bought the truck with them on it. I'm really starting to like the KMC XD Spy's. Whaddya think??

Not my style. I say if you wheel. Get some black steel rims. But to each there own. Personally I like smaller rims for better wheeling. Looks < Performance IMO. Stock rims painted black works for me.

Yeah, I like my stock 15" wheels but they are in bad shape. I'd love to paint them. Could you tell me what paint you used, and how did you prep them? Also how old is the paint job, and how is the paint holding up?

    Thanks...:)

Damn i love the moto/metal 951's but those are sick! As for painting stock wheels save it for the kid's. Makes the truck look cheap.

Yeah, I know. I prefer to keep them just like they are, but can't get them clean. They are pretty bad. It doesn't seam right to put new tires on crappy rims. I still have a few months before I get new tires though. Maybe I'll hit the LOTTO and can buy a set used for a few hundred. I do like the stock one though. Don't want steel wheels either.

Yeah, I look everyday in my areas. Cheapest I've seen where $300. I'd like to get 15" and would consider stock 16" from 01 to 04 Tacomas, but the 16" tires are $40. bucks more each.....:(

Save it for the kids? Makes it look cheap? How does it make the truck look cheap?

Some people sand the hell out of the thing first. Clean and then use self etching primer. Let dry then sand that primer down. Clean. Paint 3 coats. Then Clear. Paint holds up fine. Even though I'm 2wd I still try to play in the rocks. They get bet up but nothing like spending 5 bucks to repaint them. Even if it chips all you have to do is Spray and your done. Mine have a few chips but i just redid the rim last time and it looked great.

I really dont see a point in over priced rims.. I see a guy wheel his truck and hit a huge rock on his rim. Rim didn't look so pretty anymore. And he was just prerunning in the desert.

The only rim i would buy would be the offroad volks. Special order because they are built super to handle the offroading. Again Im all about function. If anything down the road I'm getting 15 inch steel rims since 14 inch rims dont fit.

    I'll rephrase my statement.

If its light or wider its Functional. Chrome or to wide practical nah. Rocks like to eat them or you'll rip your fender off if your tires stick out to far with stock fenders. I like yours because they are way lighter then stock and if a rock hits it it still looks good.

THIS IS JUST MY THOUGHTS your can make your truck any way you want. I just all about function and cant see the use of a blinged out rim. 2cents.
