i bought my truck used from a dealer as well.....shifted hard when i first got it. i drained the pan, then dropped the pan and cleaned the filter and put in new fluid.........shifting went back to how it was supposed to be................and the jerking you are talking about....sounds like axle wrap to me, which is pretty typical, especially with worn out/saggy rear springs.

Ive redone the tranny fluid. Before i bought the truck i had a carfax done. Came back good. I ask my sells guy who i deal with for years. He told me my truck use to be own by an old guy who had pasted away and his wife didnt want the truck so he traded it. i bout the truck with 46k so i doubt it can be worn out springs.

I would change out the tranny filter and the fluid one more time because it shouldn't be shifting rough with only 46k on it IMO.

And I think the leaf springs that came from the factory are to small or weak that is why you get that thump/clunk feeling.

There's a thread for that on here

wheelersoffroad.com has some stock height springs made by alcan spring that are awesome, and not priced bad either. i have the 5 leaf version of them...the stock heights are 4 springs.
