I am going to paint the chrome grille boarder and I want to know what others have done. I am thinking flat black to go with the fender flares and bottom of the bumper. I think gloss black would stand out to much. And where can i get some color match touch up paint in a rattle can to spray my toyota emblem in the grille?

New Pioneer stereo, and all 4 speakers with Infinity components. Sirius satellite radio. Deckplate mod done. Door buzzer silenced forever thank God, tinted windows, vent visors, hood protector(bug guard), ceramic pads and new rotors, dechromed EVERYTHING. 2" Lift front 3" rear. Skyjacker AAL's and replacement leafs(and front spacers) from Fatbobsgarage.com. Skyjacker 7000 Hydro rear shocks, those Bilstein 5100 fronts are coming soon!
I used a mouse sander with a 220 grit paper, then went to a 400, and you have to sand the hell out of the chrome, or the paint will flake off. Then wipe it clean with denatured alcohol, or M.E.K. I used about 8 coats of satin. Flat black will not look too good IMO. It has been 4 months now and it is holding up perfectly, not a hint of flaking. That paint is baked right on from the Florida hot ass sun. I did my new bumper cover and every other chrome part on my truck. I hate Chrome with a passion.

Check out my pics on here. You can see the progression of my chrome removal.

Napa can get you color match paint in pint, or aerosol cans just take them your color code. I think satin or flat black would look good, just make sure you prep it right.

Bilstein 5100's all around, Limo Tinted windows, Moto Metal 951 wrapped in Revo 2's 265/70/16, clear corners, dual Magnaflow muffler, Turn signal mod, more to come...
I have been wanting to do this to my front bumper as well. I painted my Toyota emblem in the front with Low Gloss Black Ceramic Engine Paint and it looks great.

It definitely goes better with any of the other black on the truck. I tried gloss on one of my bumper ends, it looked bad. I went right to the satin, and I think it looks great on mine.

Like I said, prep, prep, prep, most importantly.

Where in AL are you? I know that painted grills are sought after and I have actually had thoughts about swapping my painted grill and bumpers for some chrome ones in excellent shape. I may insist that we swap wheels too though. :)

That would be a drive. I live about 80 miles north of B-ham. Googlemaps says 3 hours.
