Hi all I am new to the Toyota Tacoma so please bare wih me. I have been asked to help my father inlaw do some work on his truck. Its a 2001 4wd extended cab I think it has the trd pakage not 100% sure and just under 100k on the clock. Just got done replacing all the drive shaft u joints. Its a real pain in the a$$ when your 3 hours away from all your shop tools. Can you guys give me a list of some of the common failure items you have seen on these trucks. Next weekend its getting the worn out tie rod ends replaced everything else seemed
tight frame looks good no real rust to speak of. Its going to need shocks soon they are still the oem bilstiens I am trying to get a maintinace plan together to get the truck set for another 100,000 trouble free miles. I also found the air filter box is broken. It looks like there is a lot of stress put on the intake tube from the engine and it broke the box right infront of the MAF sens. it looks like the outlet tube is a sep peice from the box and is then bonded on with glue. Any fixes for this other then going to an aftermarket inake he wont do the upkeep or care if it has one or not.
