My passenger side wheel bearing is starting to make some funny noises. Its a slight ticking sound. Anyhow, I went ahead and got new bearings. I re-packed these bearings probably 5-6 years ago. I totally forgot what I did. I assume its a pretty straightforward procedure on these 4 banger 2WD tacos? All I have to do is remove the cotter pin, retaining nut, and then pull the whole hub off and remove the old bearings?

The front bearings. For the 4WD version the instructions are kind of complicated. But this being a 2WD model I seem to remember you just pulled the hub off, popped out the old bearings, and stuck new ones and seals in. I can't totally recall.

You have it right for the most part.

    What I do is this.

Remove the front bearing, then put the Nut back on part way.
Then Pull hard and fast to remove the back bearing seal.
You have to pull down at an angle to get to to work.

You you can just use a screw drive to remove the old seal.
But that takes time. for your won truck time is not an issues.

Then clean the hub real well and use good grease.

Repack the bearing and use a NEW COTTER PIN...
    NEVER USE THE OLD ONE.....
I have seen people loose wheels becuase of this.
    yes it happened and happens.

Oh note have a few pair of rubber gloves handy. I have 4 to 6 pair and lots of towels...

    have fun...

5lug is easy. 6lug is a press in. You have to take steering knuckle off and put it in a press.

Remember to replace the races too. You'll get the best longevity.

tick doesn't really describe a bad bearing though, usually a roar.
You sure your U-joints are ok?
