Emblem and wheel painting?

I am wanting to take my tacoma badging off and paint them black, just curious about what to use to reattach them. I was also thinking of painting the wheels black too. They are off a 99, i think they are enkeis and they have clear coat pealing off a little. Should i sand all the way down, and what would be the best flat black paint for wheels? Any input is greatly appreciated!

To re-attach the badges you'll use some double sided 3m foam tape and Rustoleum makes awsome black wheel paint...thats what i used. Just sand down the wheels and put like 5 coats on em Use krylon fusion SP for the badges

 

i came from the honda side of things and the way i took them off my s2000 was to use a blow drier and heat them up so that the glue gets soft and use dental floss and move it back and forth behind there and they should come right off. you could use a heat gun if your blow direr wont get hot enough, ut be careful not to get too hot or you could burn paint.

 

dont use double sided tape. Use 3m emblem glue/ adhesive. When taking it off take your time. Use a razor blade to lift the edges and peel slowly on the tail gate emblem. TAKE YOUR TIME ON THOSE THEY ARE SOFT AND CAN RIP EASILY. on the hard plastic one use fishing line.

i guess i dont understand how people are breaking them then. i could see it with trying to use a razor blade, but i have done probably 15 cars like that and never had the slightest issue with any of them.

 

use a high temp bbq paint for the badges. better heat resistance equals less fade..

 

Just finished! Used Rustoleum satin black, 3m emblem adhesive, and 15lb power pro braided fishing line to get them off. I know how much that 15lb power pro cuts up my fingers tying knots so i decided to try it getting the emblems off. Worked like a charm, didnt even need to heat it up. Used goo gone and rubbing alcohol to get the old glue off, sanded the emblems lightly and put about 3 coats of paint and let dry over night. The emblem glue was tricky on the smaller part of the letters, wish i would have punctured a smaller hole in the adhesive tube, got alot of glue squeezeing out on the first one! LOOKS ALOT better! Thanks for the input guys! Now i want to paint my front girll on my 99, either white or black to get rid of the cheesey chrome paint. Any ideas on that?

Yeah the Power Pro worked great, just watch your fingers cause it will cut ya pretty good! No problem with the letters on the doors but be careful with the letters on the tailgate, it will cut into them a little, just take your time. Let me know how your grill project goes, i really want to do something with mine too the plastic chrome has too go! You goin black?

 

Just nice and slow with the power pro! your gonna need some goo gone to get the glue off the truck and emblems. one other thing i would suggest is to put a smallll hole on the tube of glue. a bigger hole puts too much glue out for the smaller letters.
