    Built not bought... I wanna build myself a nice front bumper, something similar to a Road Armor or ShrockWorks. Anyone done this before or have experience in the design aspect? I'm a good welder and I am proficient in the use of CAD, I'm just trying to figure out if anyone has pics of where/how I should mount, how many mount points should there be, etc.

    Relentless Armored! Too many others to list.
    on the 1st gens, there is really a limited amount of available mounting points. I think If I build a bumper for a 1st gen I'd use some 1/4" plate and make several brackets positioned off the frame with some gussets as the mounting point for the bumper. Then, just build off the mounts while keeping in mind a high clearance design and any tasks that it will need to hold up to. If you want a winch, remember to try and make it mount as close and direct to the frame as possible to reduce flex. And i'd keep around 3/4" of clearance between the top of the bumper and the fender/grille/lights of the truck because when you're flexing offroad the chassis twists a surprising amount.
