My clutch replacing efforts

I wouldnt have you waste your time looking for me chris. Youv done plenty bringing these up for me. your awsome. but im still having trouble finding it. ill look through these. I just wanted to see if anyone that hod done this knew if i assembled it right

 

hmm...where can i buy a throwout bearing anyways?

i just ordered my clutch and flywheel set but i can't find where to get a throwout bearing?

 

I got the throw out bearing, pilot bearing, clutch pad, and pressure plate all in one box from napa autoparts

 

bumping this just to see if anyone could help me with the thowout bearing situation.

You have it right. The spring on the back side clips over the pivot point on the housing.

 

no i get that. im talking about the clip that holds the bearing to the lever. not the clip that holds the lever to the transmission

 

that looks right too. the pressure plate does hold tension on the bearing. I undwerstand your concern but without being there it is hard to say whether it is too loose. the bearing stays lined up over the shaft. As long as its not "falling apart" you should be fine. I had an isuzu amigo that didnt have a clip, it only relied on the shaft to keep it in line and the pressure plate "fingers" for tension. The isuzu design was a bit different than yours but with the clip it should hold the bearing to the lever. Like i said its not going to slide off but the clip keeps it lined up and keeps it from pulling away from the "fork"

ok update time. I have everything put back together besides the front and rear driveshafts and refilling the master resavoir and bleeding it and making sure thats all nice and good. But of course theres a problem. Somehow Im missing 4 bolts that connect the clutch cover to the bell housing..... had to call a stealership and for $20 ill have them either tomarow morning or friday morning at the latest. It sucks because even when i get it all together I dont want to test drive it for fear of that cover falling off and exposing everything. project is brutal. almost been at it for a total of 30 hours. almost done though

 

itll be worth it in the end to say "I fixed my truck" Great job, two thumbs up. You ought to be proud of yourself most people wouldnt take on a tough job...gives you respect to the grease monkeys who do that crap day in day out though...F that!

Oh boy, dont jinx it. Job aint done yet. Ill be able to breath when that truck a) starts. b)doesnt blow up. c)shifts gears without exploding.

 

I just caught this thread, I remember doing this in my '94 pick up. It was a beast, you're doing a great job. keep up the work and it will be back together and on the trails soon! Next time will be easier...
