black smoke...burning oil?

So i washed and waxed my truck really good Friday night and Saturday morning....drove it to church yesterday and to school and back today....one of my buddies who is riding behind me calls me and says when i get on my truck a little such as to merge and what not...it puffs out some black smoke....sure enough i get home and my rear quarter panel has a coating of soot looking stuff....what is this???

Is your CEL on? Mine did ths when my O2 sensor went.

Black smoke = fuel. When going WOT its normal for a puff of black smoke to come from the exhaust. If its more than a puff....it "could" be an issue.

Maybe you need new plugs old ones arn't burning all the fuel?

im not sure what a "puff" is classified as..i should have been more specific....its enough for somebody behind me to notice it numerous times.....and there is enough black stuff on my fender to write my name in....

It can easilly be seen from behind. If you have alot of soot build up on your fender, you may wantto consider replacing your A/F sensor, or you drive with your foot in it alot...

excessive skinny = excessive fuel = unburnt fuel = black soot
