How much will come out???

I want to change my auto tranny fluid out this week. I have a 04 DoubleCab PreRunner 3.4L, and just hit 70,000 miles. If I pull my truck up on ramps, and undo the tranny drain plug, approximately how much tranny fluid is going to come out? I need to go to the dealership, and want to know how many qts. to get. I have seen everything from 2.5 qts. to 6 qts.

Looks like "up to 1.7 qts." so I guess I will get 2 qts. Seems like there would be more in there.

There will be a lot in the torque converter which you will not get out.

Should I even bother messing with it then? If the majority of it is going to stay in the torque converter, why change out 1.7 qts.? It doesn't smell burnt. What to do..............what to do.

when i drained my pan........i had right around 5 or so quarts come out. now, i did drop the pan, and take the filter out and clean it, but dropping the pan added maybe a quart.

i don't know about anyone else but when I changed mine I got almost 5 quarts out of it..... And that was in the PAN....

The specs state 2.1 qt. for a drain & fill on my truck, but when I changed it this weekend I got about 4.5 qt. from the drain plug - I didn't even drop the pan. The truck had been sitting for about 24 hrs., and I had jacked up the back & front corners throughout that time due to working on a shock replacement . . . maybe that helped drain some from the torque converter?

I wanted to drop the pan & replace the filter, but I couldn't get the damn thing off (tried both a screw driver & a utility knife w/ no luck).
