Black headlight mod

I really want to do this mod but I am a little confused as to what parts are painted once the headlight is taken apart. Does anyone have pictures of the painting process and what doesnt get painted and what needs to be taped off? Also it sounds like the yellow reflectors can also be taken out at this time too is that correct. Thanks for the help.

 

Never seen it done on an 01-04 1st gen. These lights aren't the same as the 2nd gen lights.

I would buy the new darkened HL. and then sell the original ones...

 

Where can you buy the darkened ones? Do they look as nice? I am also looking into doing the deckplate mod. Are there alot of people that have done it to the first gens?

 

Dude, the link is provided above. And as for the deckplate mod, yes, a lot of gen1 peeps have done it since it can only be done on a gen1 Taco.
