My truck passed inspection. It has rust falling off the surface. no holes but very bad looking.

What to do? This truck needs to fail fast

Well they did extend the warranty to 15 years from the date of original purchase.

No idea what they will pay if say next year it fails.

You really can't like poke holes in it, they aren't that dumb.

I am pretty pissed off right now. I figured I would climb under my truck and see just how bad the shocks were rusting (I was told they needed to be replaced due ot rust). Low and behold I found gaping holes in my frame on both sides. When I received the paperwork about the recall, I checked the outside of the frames and they seemed fine. The holes are so large that it is impossible to see the rear shocks without seeing the holes in the frame. The largest hole is 3 inches wide and about 8 inches long. I did some searching of the tacoma forums and reread the recall notice. Toyota is declaring all 95-2000 tacoma with perforation to be unsafe and is paying 1.5 times blue book for them.

This dealer charged me $1000 for the 120,000 mile service, new PCV valve and new brakes and tried to get me to pay another $2300 on a truck that Toyota will likely declare to be unsafe and buy back. I double checked the quote and they wanted $900 to replace the front shocks and $600 to replace the rear shocks. They also wanted $800 to replace all of the tires.

I am pretty mad about this right now. I have an appointment for first thing tuesday morning to take the truck back and have them inspect the frame. I can not believe that they missed these big holes, mademe pay $1000 for a truck that is unsafe and tried to get me to pay over $2000 more.

When did you have the 120000 service done? I'd call Toyota and try to get reimbursed for the service if the truck fails. The dealership should have never done the service. I'd also be tempted to get the inspection done at another dealer. Good luck.
P.S. Post the name of the dealer on here so people know what they did.

I had the 120,000 mile service performed 2 days ago. I doubt those gaping holes formed in 2 days.

I am considering going to another dealer, but if the truck fails the inspection, I want to be reimbursed for the work that should never have been done in the first place.

I will wait to name the Dealership until after I see how the inspection goes.

1-800-331-4331. Toyota customer line. Explain the situation to them. If nothing else, they will know what the dealer did.

I am attaching a picture of the largest hole that is right next to the gas tank. Supposedly as part of the 120,000 mile service, the gas tank straps are supposed to be inspected. Either the technician did not do the service that I was billed for or the technician chose to ignore this hole.

I think ya got a case there man. But to make you feel better, I got 11,300 for my 97 when it rusted.

Here is a picture of the holes on the passenger side. Since both frame rails are perforated with rust, I am guessing that Toyota will buy back my truck. I am curious what your some of your opinions are on the condition of my truck.

Yes with holes like that they will buy it back trust me i went though it myself!!! however i think the recall is over.... I could be wrong!! good luck!!

when mine was recalled the dealership were i did it said they (toyota) were not reaclling them after september?? i dont see how that is possible that is just wat they said...
