Got my offer roday

Paperwork came to my house today from Toyota. They offered me 10650 for my 97 extra cab with 176000 on it. I need to sign the offer sheet and return it to them. Should take 7 to 10 more days to get the check. Total time from inspection to payment will be about 40 days.

You walking with the cash or buying another one?

If you buy another one, they will add like $1800 more to it.

How many so far?

Anyone have an idea how many trucks have been "executed" so far?

I've been to at least 7 dealers in RI, Vt. NH and Mass.

At least 50 trucks at each location.

My dealer told me that it might be extended to other years but nothing official as yet.

Check the Toyota WWW and see if it says anything or has a place to contact them about it.

Foolish thought.

I paid 11k for mine 2.5 years ago, a 00.

They are giving me 16.4K for it. Plus 1750 more in rebates.

I add 3k and get a brandy new, xtra cab sr5.

Happy you got the Ca$H.... I would not sell mine for 30% more than its worth. I have had it since 96. I guess you could it has sentimental value (not worth explaining) worth more to me that a few $k. I am not in it for the cash on this vehicle.. I still have crap from a long time ago I cant get rid of....

BUT,,, If I did RECENTLY buy one with this issue it would VERY EASY for me to flip if for a profit and get a newer truck.

That is an GREAT DEAL!!

I am trying to get the frame to fail so i dont have to deal with the problems later when it is inconvient. i live in maine and among half tons im the only one with a real truck. Any help as to if they will buy it back to keep thier good name or what?

Did you have it checked by the dealer.

You can't see where the frame tends to rust most often. It's usually in the front where the struts attach.

They have a special Toyota hammer, not kidding, that they use to check it.

Well im fortunate enough to have a lift at my house (my father is an automotive instructor so) and used a punch so all the pressure would be at one point. I used a 3lb sledge and it wouldnt move but i spent more time looking at the back so. I have an appointment for 3 months from now because they are so backed up

3 months? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess that dealer isn't interested in selling any new vehicles.

All the dealers around here and there are like 6 within a 20 minute drive will take you the next day.

I have a 99 tacoma on the MA north shore. My problem is that it passed inspection, but it is "on its way." I have a lift kit in my garage, and tires on order, that are no longer any good. Why would I put 2,000 dollars into a truck that I will have for a year or two? I live on the ocean, and am in MA so salt on the roads is huge. It has already started to rust, there is no stopping it. I buy a truck that is supposed to be a 10 year truck (it only has 78,000 miles on it) and now they are telling me it might be a 2 year truck. I cannot make it "MY" truck which is very frusterating. What do I do here? Any suggestions? It would be one thing if it passed and the truck will be fine, and I could go on as if I would have it for a while. Now basically I am leasing a 9 year old truck for a couple years...

As they like to say, not for nothing but your truck is 10 years old.

I don't think that you can blame Toyota or any other car company as Mass Highway and your town likes to just dump salt 6 months a year.

Sounds like sour grapes to me and your truck is actually in better shape than mine was, as your's passed and mine did not.

yes, but I don't by a 9 year old truck unless its a tacoma. It had 74,000 miles on it, which should be at the most half of its life. I pay good money for a truck that holds its value, and I get hosed for it. They pretty much said, it is going to fail, it just doesn't yet.
