deck plate

i have a deck plate in my airbox. never looked into fule effciency. can anyone tell me how much ill save buy having the plate in instead of out.


one thing to consider is that i have a supercharger????? please and thanks

 

I doubt you will notice much of any difference.

 

i actually just tested mine to see if there was a difference. ran 3 tanks with it closed off then opened it back up and another 3 tanks. my mpg's were all within .5 mpg +/- of each other. so i don't think it makes a difference.

 

I know on my 02... I got the same roughly 15.5 average no mater what I did. Unless I was pulling the bike trailer to the track.

The only way I convinced my dad to let me do it to "his" truck was to tell him I'd get astronomically better gas mileage.

I finally got my plate in the mail. I'll be doing it on Saturday hopefully.

 

well just tell him that you get in increase of mpg, even though you won't i didn't anyway, but you do gain some hp so that a plus right

I don't think he'll call my bluff on it. I guess I could let the trip meter run for 2 tanks and get like 40 mpg. That'd show 'em!

 

ha ha thats a great idea, he'll be like holy crap thats worth the $20 mod

 

i did this to my 03 and on the highway went from 21 to 23mpg. its an access cab with the 3.4 4wd, no supercharger. and it sounds a lot cooler driving through the mountains....and with my new sticker i gained like 15hp!

 

u have to give the ecm a tank or 2 of fuel for it to adjust, then u should notice a difference, it also depends on how u drive

 

Or you could just do it anyways and leave the plate in when he drives the truck...there will be no difference for him.

 

Nah he's cool with it regardless. I convinced him that it is harmless, he was apprehensive about cutting up the stock airbox. All is well now and I'll hopefully be putting it in on Saturday
