Looking for a plow?

I am thinking of gettin rid of the dodge power wagon and just putting a plow on my tacoma. How hard is it to find an old jeep plow and fab my own pushplates? The fab is not a problem but the weight on the front end. Its a 95.5 with a 2.7. any help or opinoins would be appreciated. thanks!

 

the only problems would probably be, not enogh power, and not enough traction.

 

I have a snow away plow on my 04 and it works great i do a couple driveways with it. Its a poly plow. Just put some weight in the bed and your good to go.

 

Well im trying to keep it cheap. Toyota might buy my truck back when i get home anyway (im in iraq) so i wont even need a plow lol

If Toyota will buy the truck when you get home it might not be such a bad deal.

I'm getting the frame rebuild next month on my 2001.
I'm happy because everything under the truck will be new.
Almost a new truck with no cost to me.

Besides, if the frame is rotted, I wouldn't be putting a plow on it.

Yea i remeber them., My buddy had one that was on its last leg when his father had it lol.

 

Had a '63. Froze my butt off in that truck. I think VW bugs were warmer. Never got stuck with 6:00X16 tires. Tall and skinny got down to the ground.

The '72 was an auto tranny but better heat.

Bought the '63 for $1,000 in '69 and the '72 for $2,200 in '74 (w/plow), only 2 years old. Local IH dealership used it and depreciated it on their taxes so every few years, someone got a good deal.

 

Haha. i think my budy still has the plow to his so i was going to go look when i get home. If so it would be free and i could fab up my own pushplates and have a cheap plow. The truck spent its life in florida so the fram is solid but i cross my fingers for a buyback lol

 

If the frame is solid, I think all you'll get is a treatment to the frame to extend its life.

Get your ball peen hammer out and see if you can penetrate the frame.
If not, most likely no buy-back.

Yea i already got the inspection checklist at the deal;ership lat year and i have a lift @ my house so i check whenever im fixing something i break lol which is more common than oil changes ..

 

now when you say power wagon, are we talkin the new ones or the older ones? cause they new ones are fucking ill and id take that over a tacoma any day (no offense toyota)

 

Haha nooo. 1977 when half ton had a 1ton payload lol. The truck is a tank but 16.5 rims and full time 4x4 and little things make it a pain to dig out and plow with for a few driveways. lplus i make no money with the way gas prices are lol. My toyota is wherever i am and ive pulled out more fullsizes than i remmeber so a small pplow would probably do fine but i was wonderingif anybody actually had one on a 1st gen...?
