what is ect snow and when should i use it?

    ect is electronic controlled transmission or something like that

    you push the button and it changes your shift points to aid in towing

    A few bolts are different.
    basically holds the gear longer raising rpm's to aid in towing like Tiger said

    im not sure of the difference between the 2 but i have both...soo...i dont think theyre the same

    ECT is to give the truck a more "sporty" feel.

    Performance- bored .20 over, Doug Thorely Headers, Magnaflow Exhaust, and K&N cold air intake. Exterior- Trail Gear Solid Axle Swap, ARB compressor, high pinion 4.88 with ARB locker, 4.88 TRD Locker in the rear. Interior- 2 10inch JL W1 subs, Alpine MRX-V70 amp, Alpine type R SPR 17C 6x6 speaker in the back, Focal 165 VR with crossover tweeter up front, and Weather Tech floor mats.
    In the Normal mode you get better efficency and greater mileage. In the Power Mode the transmission shift points are changed to allow for more power IE twoing, and great for down shifting

    Where does it say "snow"...? The ECT POWER button is for towing, hauling heavy loads, driving up long hills, etc. It let's the engine RPMs rev higher before the tranny shifts into the next higher gear like mentioned above. It helps you get up to speed quicker. The O/D button on the stick is for Over Drive gear. This allows the truck to get into Over Drive, which in all reality is like a 4th gear, or cruising gear. This was designed to keep your cuising speed RPMs lower to save gas, thus better gas mileage.

    i have the same feature in my truck and have never used it - but then i dont tow anything.
    from my understanding the ECT works best if you are towing over hills or long inclines. the ECT works in conjunction with the O/D button on the shifter to prevent the transmission from jumping into overdrive. if you have ECT on and O/D on then you basically have a fourth gear to work with. if ECT is on and O/D is off your truck will not be able to automatically jump into overdrive.
    because it changes when the transmission will shift into overdrive, if you are not towing anything having the ECT on will only eat up more gas.
