Is there a way to remove the airbag cover on the passenger side of my 2003?

There is a rattle in there that has gotten noticeably worse in the past few days and I would like to try and solve it. I would rather not blow my hand off in the process.

    Thanks

the dash rattle is rather a regular occurrence in the 01-04s

i think there was a dealer fix but ive found a folded up sheet of paper shoved between the dash and the windshield does wonders

Does the cover pop off or is it fairly fixed in place?

i have no idea as ive never tried to take it off

im pretty sure tho its attached at either the top or bottom to prevent it from hitting your passenger in the face during a collision/airbag deployment

The cover does not come off of the air bag. The whole unit is held in place with place with bolts, which can be tightened up to prevent the air bag from rattling.

Take out the glove box, and look up. you'll see the bolts.

Once I take those bolts out, will the cover and airbag assembly release through the top?

I think so. I'ts a been a long time since I've taken one out. We usually just tighten the bolt up, and call it good. Usually stops the rattle and the complaining from the customer at the same time.

Remember you're playing with a small bomb, so please use common sense, and be careful. Either disconnect the battery, or unplug the air bag before you start messing around with it.

Excellent, I will give that a shot.

And yes, I was planning on disconnecting the battery, thanks for the heads up!
