The lowest I've had this winter is 18.5 mpg and that was with a lot of snow, bitter cold, and 4x4 use. My last tank was just over 20.

We have ethanol gas here all year long so the bad MPG can only be attributed to the colder temps here.

All summer long I was getting 19.6 and for the last 2 months it has dropped to 17.4 in my 4.0 manual

Where the hell is global warming

This. But I probably need a new 02 sensor, among other things. Which won't be done because the taco will be recalled in 6 months. Oh well.

I have been disappointed in mine. The absolute best i've ever gotten is 20, all city driving with the longest drive being like 10 miles. Just filled up today, 15.5. This tank I'm trying to shift at like 2-2.5k where I was at 3k before. I don't drive it hard and I can't figure out what's going on.

SoCali - Better get your speedo and odometer checked. Highly unlikely your getting that mileage at those speeds unless its all down hill!!

Getting solid 20+ mpg on the highway, 65-70mph, 35°F, Richmond, VA area. Averaging 17+ mpg in the city. Using synthetics in engine, both differentials & transfer case. Also easy on take-offs. Keep tires inflated @ 30 psi (check at every fillup). Usually gas-up at Wawa or 7-11.

It's been 75-80 degrees F the last few weeks. Winter in So Cal is like Summer for most of the country. I went snowboarding last Saturday at Mt High and went to a beach campfire at Santa Barbara. Same day... woot for So Cal winters!

Can't argue that! Lived in Ventura for several years (helped buid the jail!). Nice stomping ground and Simi avoids the fog!! Miss those december bike rides in shorts!

I've been getting about 17 mpg but I only do short distant driving. I bet if I were driving on longer trips it would be closer to 19-20 and I have a V6.

Hello all TACO Owners. I have logged on here before and made say 25 posting forgot PW so started new. Have ownerd a 2001 TACO 4 dr 4x4 v6 trd for 3 yrs. Before summer MPG 17 city 19hwy winter 15 city 18 hwy like the manuel. Live in ciicago warm up vehicle 3-5 mts in winter. Mods duckplate, synthetic fluid (iol, Reardif, transfercase) Lube april, oct, jan drive shaft and u-joints. change transs, rear dif, transfer every year july. K&N air filter. Since doing this milage increase winter 16 city-20 hwy, summer 18city 23 hwy. Some things need to look at. proper tire inflation, weight of tire. This was with Mich M/S 265/70/16, 41 lbs for best MPG, A 44 lbs tire IE Grneral Grabber AT2 44 lbs will decrease at least 1 MPG. In chicago you have summer and winter blends and factor warm-up time. In OK you can but 100% gas which gives you better MPG. Illinois 10% ethonal will cut MPG. STATS proven ethonal cuts 30% HP and MPG at E85. So figure at 200HP you are givining up say 8-10HP and if rated at 20MPG, 1MPG.
So keep your vehicle tuned up OEM plugs cleaned (fuel, oil, lube, tire pressure) Tires (all season unless light) Off road, larger than recommended will decrease MPG, and driving habbits will help. I am sure their are others out their that have better and more recommendations than I. Anyway I love my TACO and will keep this USERNAME running and check back more. Lost of great info and awsome trucks on here.
