the only "major" brands around here are bp, exxon, and sunoco.

i normally go to the loacl places (sheetz) because its a bit cheaper.

like everyone said, its all pretty much the same shit.

I go with the cheapest, as long as its at a nice gas station. I dont go to one that has crusty pumps and bars on the windows...

what i remember reading is that you want to go to the busiest gas station, as it will always have the "freshest" fuel.

Ditto-I use to haul fuel and drop at fuel stations yrs ago. Most all the fuel stations around here got fuel from 3 different refineries depending on price that week/day. The additives were already setup at the refineries, added as the trailer loads. Not uncommon to pickup fuel from X refinery for Texaco,Shell,Chevron,Gulf(showing my age),Fina in the same day. Just got to watch the mom/pop stores cuz they were added when I dropped the fuel, some did not add any additive. I would stick the tank to check the level, they would figure the amount of additive vs. the gallons I had to drop, pour it in the ground tank from a gallon jug, then I would drop the fuel.
    I prefer Chevron,Exxon,Shell.

Alternating Chevron and Arco. The only difference I see is price at the pump.

can't say that I have a favourite oil company. Although the various refineries i have worked in have made me alot of money. As long as it's 92 or 93 octane I don't care what the sign on the place says.
