    Hey everyone,

Ive been looking at a 99 Tacoma (5 speed) for my daily driver, bone stock. Its my understanding (though id like this confirmed) the 96-99 have the same V6, but 00+ its a new motor? Anyways im just curious what kind of millage people are getting, 4x4 model, mainly concerned about millage while using 2wd in standard city or city/hwy mix.. thanks!

Actually, 95.5-04 were practically the same 6 cylinder 3.4L (5vz-fe) motors.

My mom's 99 Prerunner Ext Cab seems to get 21 mpg no matter what.

    I owned a 96 for 5 years (3 years ago).

It had 3.4L 4x4 extended cab w/ manual transmission.

I had a soft tonneau cover, K&N drop-in filter, & deckplate mod (4" hole in airbox). I ran full synthetics in everything (engine, transfer case, front & rear differentials, transmission). OME coils (2" lift) and a custome made rear leaf pak (arched with 2 additional leafs). I ran stock sized tires for street usage and 32 x 11.50's for offroading.

I consistantly got 19mpg driving around half city & half highway drives.

Smoke headlights, improved LED tail lights...Pending: De-chrome badges and grille, new tires
I have a 99 Access with the V6 and I get right around 20. I upgraded the tires two sizes and that made a huge difference, costing me a couple mpg's..
