I am about pick some 98's for my truck as well. What's this noise about it sticking to the caliper?

    where do the spacers go?

if you talking about the streetlocks then you can get them from nwtonline but those guys are kinda crazy. they told me that you cant get a steel wheel to fit a tacoma.

as far as getting a 1/4" spacer, is this just the from or rear as well. is this not going to make the wheel studs too short by adding this?

for the soft8 style, i would suggest Summit Racing... they have the original Cragar Soft 8 and TW user Hologram recently ordered from them and managed to fit them on his dcab with no rubbing issues... there is a possibility based on his experience that Cragar fixed the issue, so you might get lucky too...

for the d-window streetlocks, you can get them from 4wheelparts, but the backspace they offer is stock, but they might be able to get you in 4.25"... if you want 4" like mine, you can custom order from Unique Wheels via America's Tire, but the wheels are about $145 per wheel and you will have to wait 4 to 8 weeks for delivery...

if you want the streetlock look and don't want to wait, try Wheelers... they offer a similar wheel...

it's just the fronts, and yes, it's just a 1/4" plate and you use your original wheel studs... i have seen the spacers at Pep Boys just last week, and it would shorten the studs a bit...

    correct... the 52s should clear...

i was going to go with a set of wheelers steelies, but I'm now interested in the type 52 pro comps if they clear without any spacers (thanks for that info above). Wheelers list their 16 x 8 steelies around 37 pounds a piece...anyone have an idea how much the pro comp type 52s weigh in that size?? couldn't find any info on their weight... thanks

... the bolt pattern should be 6 x 5.5 correct?

i talked to a 4wheelparts rep this morning and he insisted that the 52's will not fit without a spacer because of caliper interference... he said the wheels used to be laser cut, but they are now "stamped". he said that's why they will not fit...s2kvtak, i'm now looking at the pro comp 8069s (wheelers has them on their site, under 'wheelers aluminum wheels'. They cost a bit more (about $120 a wheel) because their alloys, but wheelers has them listed at 24 lbs a peice, not bad. i've seen a few members on here, and also on ttora that are running these wheels without any spacers or other issues. I would order them from Wheelers, but they estimated $150 for shipping to MA. I looked these up on 4wheelparts and they have a few deals right now, the total for 4 wheels was $435 with FREE shipping! I'm going to call again to make sure these numbers are correct, but it seems like a pretty good deal.

i dunno about the whole laser cut and stamped... im on my second set of d window black steels...

try your local America's Tire and ask them about either Allied Wheel Company or Unique Wheels...

i recall buying a set of 52s in 16x8 with 4.25" backspace from them a few years ago for $60 per wheel... price has probably gone up closer to $100 a wheel, but those wheels are tough... i have proof of that on my truck...

give them a try before you settle on spending more money on a wheel that isn't your first choice...

the only thing thats really holding me back is the 1/4" spacers. i dont want to put them on and get the wheels and the studs not be long enough or be short and sacrifice strenght.

so the steel pro comp series 8069's are a no go on the tacoma double cabs? Am I really forced to buy more expensive alloys for that model?

ya know, if you are running no bigger than 265-75-16, you can do 4.25" backspace easily and still be able to air down if you need to...

what backspacing were you looking at again?

those are perfect for the dcab... they aren't steel though.. they are alloy...

great looking wheel... just cant fix them if you hit anything, but that is not likely... if you can find a good deal on them, i say go for it...
