Far as I know all the dc/TRD's came with updated 16in 5 star alloys. Why would they put a steel stamped wheel on an upgraded TRD/SR5?

Zero4 was referring to 4-cylinder DC's in general, not TRD ones specifically.

However, you're right - the TRD Off Road Package included the 16" alloy rims and upgraded tires, regardless of engine / transmission / model series.

I have a friend with 2003 double cab 4x2 4 cylinder TRD that does not have a factory locker.

He bought it used but, the stickers look like they came on the truck.

    Hard-to-find? Yes.

Rare? Hardly. There is no Tacoma in this world that I or even Toyota themselves would consider or call "rare".

ok guys hate to beat a dead horse but here you go... to VixTacom the reason you have 4cyl and locker is a little thing called yours is 4wd

    4cyl prerunner (2wd) trd = no locker
    4cyl 4x4 trd = locker
    6cyl prerunner (2wd) trd = locker
    6cyl 4x4 trd = locker

yes they made factory trd 4cyl pre runners and unless someone put the stickers AND the suspension out from a trd truck then his is a factory trd prerunner

    Close, but ...

The real differentiator is engine / transmission combo. It was 4-cylinder automatic 6-lug Tacos that definitely could not get the e-locker (either as part of the TRD package or as a standalone option).

... So 4WD 4-cylinder automatics couldn't get lockers from the factory.

Yes - all pre-2005 PreRunners and Double Cabs were automatics. Therefore, no pre-2005 4-cylinder PreRunner or Double Cab could have the factory e-locker.

An automatic **V6** 4X4 got the e-locker with the TRD Off Road Package.

right but I do believe I have seen an extra cab 4cyl auto with locker... so you cant just say all 4cyl/autos dont have locker , at this point it doesnt matter and i may be wrong about the truck i saw.

the op has a trd that is for sure lol

extended cab 4 cyl. auto. might have a locker but a dbl cab 4 cyl. auto will not. Actually I thought all 4 cyl's with auto dinnitt though. And I don't think 4 cyl. auto was avail. in dbl cab with 4wd. Prolly the biggest reason you didn't see more of this config. was beacause it was so confusing to order. laughs.
