Tire Balancing Weights

What is the PROs and CONs of the Balancing WEIGHTS on the tires installed inside (none installed outside to keep the RIM clean)? Is there a lot of vibrations on the tires as a result when driving at high speed, like <70 MPH ? Or is it improperly balanced? Anybody have this problem? Thanks. So Mote It Be.

 

I have them on the inside / middle of the rims on my mustang, and have never had an issue all the way up to 100+ mph.

Having them mounted on the inside of the rim makes a cleaner look and they are less likely to be scrapped off if you run up against a curb. Since I have my TPMS strapped to the inside of my wheel I had to put weights on the outside as well as the inside of the rim.

As far as driving at high speeds, I have had my truck up to 125 mph (legally on the Autobahn) there is no vibrations at all.

 

Local shops here refer to that as a simple balance, what Ive been told is that a proper balanced wheel should have weight on both sides of the wheel and if you want clean look put the outside weights inside the wheel but as close as possible to the wheel spokes

I had vibrations from 50mph +,I took it to a different shop and they told me what I mentioned above, they told me the wheels were balanced but it was a "simple balance job" they balanced the wheel as I mentioned above and the vibrations disappeared.

no real cons, but the only pro is no wheels weights on the outside face of the wheel. Its much cleaner and yes those outside wheel weights do scratch the lip of the wheel while being installed.
