Once upon a time. In a land far far away. I was involved in an emergency which in my mind justified putting my life and possibly the lives of others at risk. I will attest that the non calibrated top speed of my 1991 2.4L reg cab was over 110mph.

I have intentionally avoided posting on the speed threads and completely agree with Phantom on speeding issues. I pray that I never have to make a choice like that again.

chances are the goverenor will kick in when u hit about 160km/h, at least that is what is is on my truck, and i had a 2004 f-150 4x4 with the 4.6 v8, it to topped out at 160 km/h, i think that is sorta a standard!

Thing is I go full throttle all the time, when the speed limit is below 30, I stick it in 4LO so I can still go balls to the wall. I can't not pound on the pedal LOL

m not exactly sure about the 94's. But I have maxed mine at 95. But it goes to 110. I think all early models cut off around 90-100

Yeah I've already changed it out twice, and I got less then 2 k miles. It's still fun as shit to go balls to the wall in 4LO.

You don't need to be going that fast in a truck.

the speed is set because of the limitations of the tires on tacomas. theres no top speed per say.... once you hit 100 a timer sets off and after like 4 or 5 seconds it cuts fuel. ive hit 108 but some of the turbo guys hit 120 or more (speedo stops at 110 so who knows) until theres shuts off. motors want to keep going tho they are very powerful for there size compared to the truck weight. the srunners were set higher due to there higher performance tires.

Is there a governor kicking in there? Or did you just wuss out?
With the right 2-low modification, a 2.7 4x4 can touch 56 mph / 90 kph in 5th gear low range with the engine spinning *right at* 5500 rpm.
I've never had any inclination to go over 30 mph in 4L (probably haven't gone over about 10 mph), but I *have* gone up to 60 kph (37.5 mph) in 2L.

Now yours is a V6, which is geared a bit higher, which means you should be able to push up even higher.
