I have a 99 taco 2.7l and I cleaned the MAF sensor with MAF cleaner, and then hosed down the throttle body really good with carb cleaner. Now I have some problems.

Now it doesnt like to start when its cold, unless you floor the throttle, then it will start with a puff of gassy smoke out of the exhaust. and the idle use to be a little over 1k rpm when it was cold. Now it just sits at about 800rpm. There are NO check engine lights. I changed the plugs hoping that I just fouled them out, but no go. Any ideas what controls the COLD idle level, and fuel mixture? Maybe I damaged the MAF? Thanks for any help!

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
How did you hose it down? When TB was still on the truck?

I took off the intake tube, and held the butterfly open and sprayed the throttle body/intake manifold with carb cleaner. Then, reassembled with the intake tube, and MAF, with no filter hooked up, and started the truck, raised the idle, and sprayed carb cleaner next to the MAF sensor (trying not to hit the actual sensor part) in the center of the intake tube, and sprayed probably a 1/4 can through the intake tube with the truck running.

i clean my MAF sensor pretty regularly but that's it, and no issues with starting...

my truck has always idled around 500...

over 1,000 at idle is high...

what did you use to clean the MAF sensor?
