Mine does that too. Only in the cold or wet weather. I can turn the ac off and it will stop most of the time. And I thought it was just my seat beats that weren't retracting right.

Mine is a 96 and the cup holder has to be the worst design ever. It slides out and pretty much covers up the entire panel of heat and AC controls. If you have the heat on, it warms up your soda in no time. PITA!

Otherwise, I love the uncomfy seat and rattling dash, and seatbelt hanging out my door when i close it. :D

#1 is definitely the oil filter, I bought my Tacoma used and I swear the last guy put that sucker on with an impact wrench!

    #2 is seatbelts not retracting.

#3 seats are not very comfortable.

The one thing I love about my Tacoma is it feels like driving used to feel like in my younger days, having a manual trans is so great. Driving is no longer boring, the 5 speed keeps you on your toes and actually makes driving fun again, plus my wife can't drive a stick, heh, heh.:ballchain:

i agree with the seatbelts not retracting and the placement of the clock. while the oil filter is not in the ideal position it is still easy enough to get to so it dosnt really bother me

I have only had my Tacoma for 2 months TO THE DAY (have the anniversary marked off in my phone :p), but most of the little complaints I had have already been said (front suspension sag, clock placement, non-retracking seatbelts, and shallow bed). Even though I am a larger guy, I find the seat somewhat comfortable. However, driving a manual, I find it a little tight when trying to shift, and always seem to hit my leg on the shifter in 2nd gear!

I fixed that problem back in about '99 with a Rancho 1.5" kit. Now I can feel every single bump in the road. :)

I bought my Tacoma new on Dec 26, '96 so I've had 13 yrs to build a complaint list. Surprisingly it's still pretty short.

    1. The stock exhaust manifolds cracked twice on me. I finally gave up and replace it with a quality head which has been great in every respect except (see complaint #2)

    2. The oil filter location. It's low even harder to access, and burns like hell trying to reach past the header.

    3. Pull-out cup holder. Terrible location and design.

    4. Some odd little smog pump sound the comes and goes w/o rhyme or reason. It resonates against the body, so I hear it in the cab.

    5. Rancho front struts eventually leak, and I baby my truck. They're lifetime warrantied, so I keep sending them back for free replacements, but I'm still out the labor for installation.

    6. 2.7L power for turning 31's with headwinds and long steep grades.

It sounds like I'm complaining, but not really. Just some quirks I've come to accept after 13yrs. I absolutely love my little Taco and will never sell it. I just realized the OP asked for one thing, rather than one list. Ooops....

X2 - those are the only 2 things that irritate me on a daily basis. I actually don't mind the oil filter location, I've had cars that had way worse. Also, I hear a lot of people dislike the seats, but again, these are better than some of the other car's I've had before. Not as good as my Eclipse's seats were, I wish I'd kept those.
