Twice now when I have tried to start my truck it starts up very ruff. When it did finally start I thought I could still hear the starter trying to turn over even though I had let go of the key. I then shut it off and pulled the key out and the truck was still trying to turn over all by it's self. I then stuck the key back in and gave it a turn and it started fine. This has happened twice now in the last 2 months. Other then these two times the truck has been running perfect.

What do you think this is?
I am thinking a bad starter maybe?

How hard is it to change a starter on a 96 Tacoma?

check the starter contacts. 4 cylinder is easier to change than v6 but not to hard.
