Ok so I just bought a 2000 Tacoma trd 4x4 ext. cab for $500 with a enigine problem it just choked out one day. My dad thought it was a timing belt so we went ahead and bought it. He got to working on it and found the timing belt to be intact soooo... we are buying a new enigine and i have a few questions 1.Can the enigine be removed with the torque conveter still attached. 2. Can the enigine be removed with the headers still attached ( If I remebered the question right:confused:) Thanks in advance for your help and its the 3.4l V6:woot:

Alright today we got the headers and manifold and possibly going to get alittle work done tommorow. There was a rounded off nut that gave us trouble today and we got the nut cut off (ouch:eek:) and then we couldn't get the rest of it of so yeah thats how the day went. Like i said when we take the engine out ill get somemore pics cause we don't have enough height in the garage to take it out. Wish us luck. Forgot to metion that the engine is seized if that makes any difference to the reponses above.
    PS. BUMP

Wish us luck

Looks like you got a hell of a deal on that truck for $500. Is the body in good shape? A new engine is not going to be cheap, but you are still going to come out waaaay ahead on this deal.

:DYes, the body is in good shape were going to have to move in the driveway in order to pull the engine and then i can get some nicer pics. Should have an update by the end of the day. There are a couple scrathes and dents nothing serious though.

Sooo I got another question where would the easiest and strongest lifting points be at? We will mostly pull the engine tommorow as long as all goes well

There should be two lift hooks on either side of the engine, Both bolted to the cylinder head. One at the back, and one at the front.

Where exactly would those lifting points be at about we haven't seen anything and since it's spring break for me i was hoping to be able to have it running or very near to running by the end of the week. My dad's hours at work have been crazy so thats why we didn't have any progress but i have some pics to post.
P.S how do you post big pics?

Nice Looking truck. Good deal too,

But yeah there should be lift hooks on there somewhere, I've done a few 22-re swaps and a bunch of 3.0's and one 3.4 but they all had lift points.

:)I know it has been a long time since I have posted but I have good news. The enigine came in from colorado and had been sitting a the place since last wensday and they didn't call us or anything. I went to the garage to get a pic of the new engine and saw the old one on the lift. But any ways on to the pics.
